Host a Postcard Party

How to Host a Postcard Party

Postcard events build community and can help recruit new members to your Civic Engagement Team.  Postcard parties are easy-entry programs where we can meet volunteers where they are and empower them to make a difference.  Postcarding is among the most cost effective ways to boost voter turnout.  Postcard Parties can look different, depending on your congregation’s needs.  WIVEC can help you determine what is best for your congregants, such as handwritten postcards or pre-made templates, how many postcards your congregation would like to send, and how to build a faith ritual into your event!  Here’s what you need to do!

  1. Set a date, time, and place for the postcarding party.
  2. Announce the postcarding event in newsletters, social media, and bulletins.
  3. Aim for 10-20 participants and ask them to write at least 5 postcards each.
  4. WIVEC can supply postcards and addresses,  You can add your congregation’s logo.
  5. The congregation provides the address labels, stamps, snacks, and fellowship.
  6. Ask for a guest speaker to present about voter engagement, the importance of faith communities coming together to organize, and ideas for future opportunities.
  7. Establish a firm date to mail out the postcards, at least two weeks before the next election.
