Energize

Energize your congregantion by offering events that focus on voting efforts (entry-level activities that connect with fellow congregants and services focused on the congregation’s voting needs).

    • Communicate about voting in your congregation
    • Create a Civic Engagement Leadership Team
    • Host 1-2 entry level Get Out The Vote (GOTV) events
    • Challenge 100% registered voters within the congregation and think of a creative way to emphasize it (ie. thermometer to show what percentage of the congregation is registered).
    • Identify specific groups and brainstorm ways to reach out to them
      • Examples:
        • Shut-ins – have a team of people call your shut-ins and ask if they are registered and/or need help voting
        • Young adults – host a special voter engagement event/forum targeted at young adults
        • Send out birthday cards to all 18 year olds and remind them to vote
    • Host voter registration events for your congregants
    • Clergy gives a GOTV sermon within a scheduled service
    • Education on why local elections matter and why your vote matters
    • Create “Adopt a Voter” program
    • Offer rides to the polls for congregants
    • Read a book or watch a movie about voting (better yet if you do this as a part of an already established book or movie group). Click here to see a list of options.
